We just returned from Bonaire last Thurs. (4/6) and according to the a few of the employess at Captain Don's the dock was being replaced, but because of it's position in the water, it was necessary to bring in the heavy equipment. Some type of barge. The barge was schedule to arrive around April 9. Then, it they worked around the clock, it should take about 10 days to complete. But, something tells me that they are probably not going to be working around the clock. The new Deco Stop bar is almost ready. That only took 9 months. Island time.

The barge has arrived. The barge, special equipment, and crew were hired jointly by many of hotels to drive pilings into the ocean floor for replacement docks. The new piling construction should be better able to withstand future waves. Once the pilings are in, I suspect it won't take long for the docks to be finished. The hold up until now has been barge.

Thanks Linda. My wife and I will be there tomorrow!!! I'm just hoping the construction won't disrupt the diving too much at Captain Don's because my wife is a new diver and Captain Don's is such an easy dive to get her started. No matter what I'm sure we'll have a great time and there are plenty of other sites. The WebCam is great. I hope it takes off for you.

I saw the Barge arrive at Capt Dons during breakfast on 4/25. By dnner it was gone. I am not sure if it was done or just gone for the day. I could not see anything it did above the water line but the pilings may be under water?
