I was told that we didn't need wet suits, or a shortie at the most, but I've been looking at pix and see lots of people wearing wet suits. Do we need them?

We dove Bonaire last Oct and are diving again this Oct. I recommend a full wet suit in order to avoid abrasions. I also recommend a full suit if you are going to dive alot and at night. I used a 2 mil and my dive bud used a 3/2 mil. I experienced some cold last year toward the end of the week on one dive we were doing in that late afternoon.

depends on how sensitive you are to the cold. When we were there last October, Dan wore a 1/2 mm suit just for skin protection, I wore 1/2 mm suit plus a 2mm vest for extra warmth. I always tend to need more neoprene than he does, as I get cold faster...

Hi Darry,

Last November I wore just a lycra diveskin and only got chilly during a night dive, but as a Midwest cold quarry diver November + 85F water = bliss. For my trip in a few weeks I'll be bringing my new .5mm fullsuit and 3mm "beanie" as well which should take care of the cold.

Thermal protection is such a personal thing it's very hard to give advice that is relevant to your needs. If you tend to get cold easily, bring the 3mm full suit, or rent one once you arrive.

Good Luck, you will just LOVE the island.
