Went there by boat for the sole purpose of cleaning the filter and lens of the reef cam....plus taking a load of our divers along with us as well. Walt Stark of Rek Tek Scuba N.V. and I were diving our rebreathers and I taking along my trusty R2D2 Sea&Sea Housing with a Nikon N90S stationed dryly (I hope) inside. After the dive briefing Walt and I entered gracefully into the water (NOT) and journeyed directly to the reef cam to clean the filter and lens (thanks to one of our guests who happened to have tie wraps and pliers in his dive bag, because I forgot to bring ours...I never said I was a perfect lens cleaner). After throughly removing the biological debris that had accumulated upon the lens and filter, Walt and I traversed over the wall down to the small cavern that most of you know is located midway along the Small Wall vertical section. Finding the cavern empty, we then just hung out off the wall attempting to befriend a cautious tarpon who was not really sure about these new beings without bubbles. After some time of playing cat (tarpon) and mouse (diver), Walt and I then returned to the Reef Cam to check out the action there. Lo and behold, what did we find, but Charlotte's hideout in the mooring block. She just kept coming out the see what all the commotion was about and then came along a friend of hers, Tweety, the juvenile tang (yellow phase, hence the name Tweety). Well we hung out at the reef cam watching divers come and divers go and on each new arrival, Charlotte and Tweety would come out and insure that proper buoyancy was being adhered to. After all the divers had made their debut on the wORLD wIDE wEB, Walt and I took our turns in front of the camera, stage center with me holding the Dive Inn Earth Day 2001 BONAIRE sign for all to see. No dolphins, no manta rays, no whale sharks, no sharks at all, but one of the greatest visons of life on our planet, PLANET EARTH, may we all learn to love it just a little bit more each day. Happy Earth Day tomorrow everyone.

Great report Jack - we'll be sure to check out Charlotte and Tweety when we are both visiting Jake & Linda for the BBQ on the 29th and when we actually dive Small Wall. You did a GREAT job of cleaning the lense.

Jack - thanks very much for doing the ReefCam cleaning!

Linda and I were delayed in Orlando for an extra day Saturday because our plane struck a sea gull (or vice versa - but the plane won, sea gull lost) upon take off at Orlando, and the plane had to land again so that the damage could be evaluated. Net result was that the flight was cancelled, and they (American) rebooked us into Bonaire for Sunday (which went fine, and the business class upgrade on the Miami-Curacao leg was greatly appreciated :-) ).

Jack - are you joining us on the 29th as well?

Jake

No problem on the cleaning, glad to do it. I was planning on making the BBQ this time but just found last week that(tag, you're it)I have to go to Chicago for the Our World Underwater Show. Leaving Wednesday for Curacao for a day and then on to Chicago on Thursday. This should be fun, me in Chicago watching all of you guys having fun on Bonaire, talk about turning the tables. ;-)
I'll post a dive report from Lake Michigan...NOT.
I'm sure everyone will have a great time at the BBQ. Hey Jake, how about a cam on the patio?

Tony, the show is at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. If they decide to make it to the show, tell em to look me up at the Habitat Dive Resorts Booth.

Jack,

We still have the PartyCam mounted and active, so I'll recable it for Sunday afternoon/evening so you (and others) can join in remotely :-)

Jack,
Hope to see you this weekend at OWUW. I'm not sure which day I'll be visiting, Either Saturday or Sunday, I've got to help with the yearly launch at North Point Marina (at the Illinois/Wiconsin state line on Lake Michigan) of a 26 foot sailboat we crew on; don't know yet which day. The other day, we (Jean & I) hope to make our yearly visit to OWUW. We live in McHenry, between an hour & 1 1/2 hours northwest of O'Hare (and the convention center). Also want to visit with the reps from the Sand Dollar.
Regards,
Chet
