My wife & I are planning our first visit in
November - we could use some advice on the
following:
= We'll be taking our twin babies with us - are
some resorts better than others to stay with
young babies and still oriented towards diving?

= We will be taking turns diving - can we find
buddies easily? How about for shore dives?

= What is the weather/visibility like at this
time of the year?

= We'll be flying from California - it seems
very complicated to get there using a decent
flight. Are there charters or other things to
look for?

Thanks,

Sai

Sai, there are a number of resorts that you could look into. Take a look at the Plaza and their Children's Policy:

http://www.plazaresortbonaire.com/special2.htm

They have a shallow pool for children and also an excellent dive operation. You'll have no problem finding a buddy on the boat dives. Perhaps you'll even meet other divers that would be happy to shore dive with you. If you post your vacation dates, I'm sure you'll also find a buddy here on this board.

We're usually there early December, weather is calm, (perhaps the odd shower).. visibility is often excellent.

I agree,The Plaza Resort is a good choice.
For people without buddies, I always say, "Buy a Buddy". Before I married a diver, that is what I did. I paid a Dive Master to be my buddy. Probably the best buddy you will ever have! And well worth the money.
It's usually 27.00 to 35.00 for the day.
I think it's a safe way to go, and I think I always learned more having such good buddies, instead of the "pot luck" buddy that might want to be looking at other things then you!
When you 'buy a buddy' they are there for you only! Good luck!

Oh yes, one more thing. You can take Air Jamaica from LAX to Montego Bay, and Montego to Bonaire. Good prices right now through November.

Passengers taking the red-eye from LAX into Montego Bay can use the First Class lounge while waiting for their connection to Bonaire.
