I have used both the PowerShot 400S and 850IS (with an external strobe) with pretty good results but am looking at what I can do to improve my underwater photography (without upgrading to any other camera).

For those PowerShot users who think they get good results, please tell me about the camera settings you use. The 850IS has an "Underwater" setting (that the 400S did not have), but I have mainly used "Manual" with various settings combinations (i.e., Cloudy, AutoFocus, Evaluative light metering, ISO 100, center-focus).

Recommendations please.

I have an Canon PS800 and use either manual or underwater depending on my depth. Deeper that 20 feet, I generally use the underwater setting, because it adds a red filter, so the colors are more true. If I'm shallower, it depends what I'm shooting. also, if I'm shallow & it's sunny, definitely Manual.

My daughter has an 880 and it has a cool feature that you can highlight a specific color (rest of pic is B&W) or more fully saturate that color. We don't have an UW housing for it, but it would be fun to get one and try those features out.
