I recently saw a video on YouTube that showed six cannons at a dive site on Bonaire. Does anyone know which site they are at?

Boca Slagbaai, I would guess. Fake, I think, made of concrete for a movie some years ago.

The cannons are located on the south east side of the island between baby beach and the light house in about 35 feet of water.

I remember seeing one (or two) on a southern end of Boca Slagbaai beach. Are those fake? What about those on “south east side of the island between baby beach and the light house in about 35 feet of water”? Also fake?

I do not know if the ones I saw were fake. They were shaped like cannons and had alot of coral growing on them. I had to go up to about 25 feet and look down to identify the structures.

the cannons are indeed fake .. they were put there for a very forgettable film .. Shark's treasure" some 25-30years ago.

Slac Bai Cannon
I first snorkeled at Slac Bai either during the summer of 1975 or 1976. I can still remember cruising around way out in the middle of the bay and seeing an amazing array of canons lying in the sand on the bottom. We were really excited until we dove down and noticed that the underside of the canons was flat. They were fake canons. I later learned that they had been props for a movie called, "Sharks Treasure," filmed on Bonaire in 1974. However there are indeed two real canon in shallow water along the south wall of the bay at Slac Bai. It is said that my next door neighbor, Ralph Nolen, discovered them in 1981.”
I don’t know how reliable it is.
Can anybody confirm that there are fake a real canons?

OK I'm confused (nothing new there is there?). We dove/snorkeled Boca Slagbaai last year and again this year.

Are there two groups of cannons this is what we saw in shallow water right off the beach by the cliffs? Very obviously not flat on the bottom but round, gee, just like a cannon lol. Are these real? If so, does anyone know their history? And if they are fake I guess they belong to the Grade 'B' movie everyone talks about.

Sometimes it is so hard to find an accurate history on this island that we enjoy so much.

"Our" cannons

cannon 1

cannon 2

cannon 3
