First time to Bonaire. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (with the Jr certification) staying at Caribbean Court in July. Any recommendations for dive shop? We will probably only shore dive with maybe one or two boat dives. The kids will need to rent BCD's and regs. We will be right by the Plaza so Toucan is an option, I think. There is supposed to be a new operator there as well, ? Divocean. Any experience with them? Other thoughts?

Why not use the dive shop right at Caribbean Court?
I believe they have one, right?

Depending on the age/size of your chilren, it might be worth the time to send them an e-mail to make sure they will have rental BCs in the small sizes you might need?

I'd offer the same advice for any petite person. Nothing good starts with an ill-fitting BC.

While I haven't been to DivOcean, I do know the owner Chris, as he was my AOW instructor when he was at Wannadive.

I will attest that you will not find a better instructor, a more safety oriented but fun diver anywhere. He is seriously one of the best I have ever met and I would believe his diveshop would reflect that.

DivOcean is going to operate with a new manager starting June, his name is Thommy Kurtz, he previously worked and managed Tropical Divers. Thommy has over 20 years of experience in this field world wide and will be a supreme choice to attend to the dive needs of your family.
DiveOcean is located directly at Caribbean Court and by the expertise of the owners of this dive facility, very well equipped.

Thanks for the advice. I just wanted to be sure Diveocean was reputable since it is pretty new. I couldn't find any reviews online. I can't read their whole website which is in Dutch. I'll make sure to e-mail about the xsmall BCD. I had to do the same last year in Belize where we went for her checkout dives.

I do believe Thommy mentioned something along the lines of actually redoing the website of DivOcean, which for sure does include multi lingual buttons to switch language. Do not hesitate to approach Thommy via email, he will be able to help you starting beginning of june, so maybe you should write him beginning of june, that will give him a head start to make sure he has XS BCD's for your children, in case he does not have them already. I wish you and your family a safe and wonderful dive vacation on Bonaire!

We are not getting tanks from them but maybe we should be. The owner is super nice and the shop and room where they fill the tanks is spotless! I wish him well.

Hello everybody, the new web-site of Div ´Ocean will be ready beginning of June and will also be in English! The new management will start there at the 1st of June and would be sure happy to welcome you! No problem with the sizes of BCD´s, there is plenty of rental-equipment, brand new and, like mentioned, in every size. Don´t hesitate and give it a try!
