Hi,

I have a dilemma that I was hoping you guys could help me with. I did a Discover Scuba course in Hawaii about a year ago and did two dives. However, I never got certified and so if I want to dive again, I will have to to the course all over again.

My ship will be in port from 7am - 1pm, and so we dont have a lot of time in Bonaire. I was wondering if you think it will be worth it to do the discover scuba (which will leave me maybe an hour max to snorkel elsewhere) or should I just snorkel independently (or take a snorkeling tour)? I don't want to miss out on the 'best snorkeling/scuba in the caribbean'... will I miss out if I don't scuba, or will I miss out more if I spend a bulk of my time training for scuba while missing snorkeling?

Thanks!

Welcome to BT, Archit. The best advice is always to get dive certified at home locally before your trip. But it sounds like you are already on your way, then your best bet is to just snorkel, you'll get more time UW.

Arch, you need to make a decision on what the future holds for you.
On this cruise ship gig, just snorkel around a bit, you hardly have enough time to do much else.
Then stop by one of the full-service dive resorts; Buddy Dive comes to mind, but Divi Flamingo is closer to the cruise ship dock.
Check out the shore-dive operation, ask a few questions about full certification, and then plan a return trip to Bonaire for a week or 10 days. That is the way to do it right...

Tom said it all I think. Get certified so future travels will leave you with the only dilemma of which to do - dive or snorkel.

welcome to BT. i think you should snorkel instead of the discover scuba. you have six hours on bonaire so i'd recommend snorkeling for an hour or two and doing an island tour.
