I started keeping track of site conditions to better plan our dive trip next May. As I read trip reports by other BT members, I add any site conditions they provide to a simple spreadsheet.

I'd like to share my little project with the BT community and I'd welcome your comments for improvements.

If you wish to contribute information directly you will need to have a gmail (google) account. Send me a PM with your gmail address and I will provide you with access to the spreadsheet.

Leo, cool project! PM is being sent. I'll use this during my March trip and contribute anything new afterwards.

Leo, Oil Slick, shallows, all gone. At depth, severe damage.

Angel City, both reefs in good shape.

Ol' blue (Tolo) entrance gone. Not really any good spot to get in safely.

Karpata, perfect.

Hi all,

Tink...we dove 'ole blue the day after Omar. We one of us climbed down and the others handed down tanks.
Although damage was saddening, it was still a good dive.
It was a challenging entry though...

Krispi, you are more adventurous than our group. I would not have recognized it had it not been for the parking lot.

Here's a pic, where did you enter? It was all coral substrate to the sea. We just couldn't figure out a good place to enter. The arrows depict where the sand USED to be.

Leo,
Great idea; I added it to my favorites list.
We will hopefully be on island in June.
Thanks, Skip

Hi,
Wondering is it possible for folk to add which dive sites have really suffered because of OMAR. (so many sites to dive but so little time whilst on hol)That way divers can avoid these sites thus not wasting time when on BON and maybe finding a better dive site and more importantly leaving the affected sites alone to give them time recover.

Rose, yes, the spreadsheet is open to all BT members interested in contributing information. The objective is not so much to write-off sites but to give post-Omar divers a better idea what to expect and plan accordingly.

Information on the spreadsheet is added in two different ways:

1) BT members can enter the data directly by themselves -- all you need to do is PM me with your gmail account and I will add you as an editor for the spreadsheet. Needless to say that basic knowledge about using a spreadsheet is necessary.

2) As I read various trip reports, I copy the relevant information to the spreadsheet.

Hello all-
I am now unable to get to the above site. Not sure it's a firewall issue at work or the site if off line, but I get the following:

"The publishing options given are not valid. Please check the options and try again."

Was interested in any new updates on the reef post Omar.

Thanks,
Neptune Nick
