Just back from two weeks in Bonaire. Never visited before and everyone wanted to tell me how much better it was before the storm. I thought it was still really great. Very few snorkle sights from shore are still good (basically it is from Karpota up north travelling south to Oil Slick Leap); everything else is pretty much gone for snorkling. But the sites that are still good are excellent. There are still some other sites from boats to snorkle so there is still lots to do. The water taxi over to Klein Bonaire is an excellent way to see that island; ask the driver to take you south along the beach (he will charge an extra $5) but you can jump in and snorkle all the way back to where he will pick you up. It is definitely the best way to go because No Name beach is not good for much snorkling, but the rest of the site (south of No Name) is still absolutely terrific. The dive sites are still wonderful and this is a great island to try diving if you have the nerve. The sites are not deep and the instruction is excellent. I went with Ronald who works at Green Submarine but does his diving out of PhotoTours Diving (next to Plaza Hotel in the Caribean Court complex). He is a very good teacher, very patient and an excellent dive professional. He takes a slate with him so he can write you notes (fish, instructions, suggestions) so you don't get confused. He made the whole effort effortless.

We went to Bonaire last year and plan to go again at the end of February. Like a lot of people, we worry about the damages caused by the storm. We have read some bad news about the snorkling sites and thank you for your report because we did not have much information about diving sites.
Can anybody give us more details on the diving sites : access, corals, fishes, visibility, compared with before the storm. Thank you for your help.
