Where can I get a tank of helium on Bonaire?

I suspect you should say rather you want to breath it or inflate balloons...

Cyndelee: maybe you are confusing Helium with Nitrous Oxide?

Deborah: Talk to Walt; he has Helium. It is not cheap on Bonaire!

Funny thing with Cynde here: she must have had at least one cup of coffee by 6:51 pm....... Maybe the sun had been too long over the yardarm... :–)

To inflate balloons, I should have added that

to inflate balloons.....that kind of helium tank. try the florist/gift shop across from lee's. i've never been in it but it's worth a try...and since you're right there you might as well stop at lee's too.

Be advised that "helium" tanks for balloons, as sold in the U.S., often contain approx 18% oxygen, so that if someone breathes from the tank (or the balloon) they don't die. Be very very careful about talking like Donald Duck from a pure helium tank.

mel, my "of course" sounded snotty, it should have read and sounded like:

Mel, DOH! (sounding like Homer Simpson)

Where is Dan Jolly, he should have caught my mistake, after all, he says he IS a dentist!

Glen....that dang yardarm and sun...I did take a quick nap in the shade and had just woken up from it. It will now be necessary to add that to the "i cannot post after naps." LMDAO!

Mel...wow...I had no idea about the O2 in helium...sooo....what WOULD happen if you inhaled pure helium?

Deborah, please excuse us all, we just get silly sometimes...especially after a good dose of Nitrous Oxide.

tink, if you inhale pure helium you could die...or you'd get lucky and just pass out first. once the O2 level in the air you are breathing gets down around 17% or 18% you are on the verge of going unconscious and will have one helluva headache. if you're lucky, that's all that will happen.

one of our favorite days on the fire department was the day we checked all our air and gas bottles...the lucky guys got to check the nitrous oxide system.

we're lucky here...the sun goes over the yardarm while you're still working. although with all the snow today it will be hard to see the sun.

uh..yikes! did any of your FD buddies ever pass out checking the NS system?

The sun is always over the yardarm for a long time in California...makes for lazy days and long naps...in fact, we are having a heat wave today, it's already up to 71F, probably gonna reach 80F by mid afternoon....YAWN...

Kimo, Angel City is one of my fave dives...at "civil" twilight in the morning...changing of the guards is amazing...cherry snapper, is that a drink?

Glen, i'm a powerboater, HTH should I know that that REALLY meant...LOL! I googled yardarm an got sailboating information, masts, sails, yardarms...I just asked WHN and he didn't know what it meant either...guess we aren't "OLD" enough to know that old time sailor speak...[wink]

I love learning new things to say. that's gonna be my new phrase now "not till the sun's over the yardarm"...or "the sun's over the yardarm, it's time!"

Hi
Back on topic. If there is a welding shop they may have helium, and it would probably a lot cheaper than any made for breathing.
Mick

I wondered what the heck helium and welding would have to do with each other.
So I googled it.
http://www.airproducts.com/helium/Applications/welding.htm

Guess we learn a bit every day...

Hi
I figure there's got to be a welder or iron shop there somewhere with all the gates and what not around, but I could not find a listing. Whether they do Heliarc is another question.

Here is a good one for you.

Welding Helium is more expensive than Diving Helium.

Welding Helium comes from the local gas supplier on Island.

Diving Helium is imported by a Diving wholesaler and comes in a little cheaper.

Tinker-bell...the change to the outer reef of Angel City was ginormous after Omar. We dove there the day before and the day after Omar and what wasn't broken or toppled was covered in "snow". Bart said this would clear off. I came off this dive in tears. Please let me (us) know after you dive this site, how it looks???

So, is there a place to get Helium for divers on Bonaire? I assumed that was the original poster's question-

Trimix fill--Where can I get it on Bonaire?
