By Tami - lots of PBD this year yessir. (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #202) on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 10:19 pm: |
We are coming to Bonaire soon and are staying at a resort with a dive operation- planning on using it so that we can dive the house reef and for the convenience of it. However- there is a dive operation that we have used several times and we really like it (and they offer some things that we like to take advantage of). Here is the question- if we buy tags at one place and go through the orientation do you think that the OTHER dive shop will want us to go through their orientation? just wondering.

I doubt it Tami. No reason for it to my knowledge. If you already have your park tag that should be proof enough. Go and enjoy!

Tami, The only problem I can see is the shop you get your unlimited shoredive package with will give you air as well. If you go to another diveshop to boatdive you will have to pay for their U/Limited shore diving on a alacart basis.

Tami - experienced a somewhat close situation. We are back on the island for the second time this year and not staying where we got this years' tag. The new dive shop did want us to do orientation but it was greatly abbreviated and quick, mostly just paperwork and the particulars of their operation and equipment.

You are supposed to do the orientation each visit, whether you already have a tag or not, and whether you are at the same place or not. No one should be charging for an orientation.

Mel..In theory doing an orientation each visit sounds nice, but in the real world it really isn't so. Especially for long time visitors & patrons of specific dive operations. Obviously you do need your tag.

PALOMA is 1500km away and moving away. No issue. It is closer to Miami (and getting closer) than to Bonaire.

We've stayed at Belmar and used their shop but done boat dives with Toucan at Plaza, just told them we'd done our checkout dive already, no problems.

MEL, Thanks for the info. Now if Paloma doesn't screw up our flight coming from the northeast we should be OK
