I hope that this is not a misuse of the board, but I am in need of a new regulator and I would like to know what regulator folks here dive and kind of a short why they like it. I get tired of reading the reviews from the rags, and I value the opinions of the everyday folks who have real jobs and dive for fun.

Thanks to those of you who indulge me, and again I apologize if this is not an appropriate thing to do here.

David

What better place is there to ask? The main thing I would be concerned with is buying a brand that could be easily serviced here or other dive destinations.

Hi David,

There are a lot of good regs on the market. I personally use a Zeagle and My wife uses a Scuba Pro. Besides selecting a good quality reg, I look for a brand that has support from a local shop that I like (kind of find the shop first then decide on the brand) I frequent another board that may be a place you would like to post this question. We have a wide range of divers there and I am sure you will get a lot of info. You can also try searching on the board as well. Try www.scubasource.com It's a very good scuba board.

Rodales has a good site for equipment tests they have done. www.scubadiving.com My suggestion is go to your "favorite" dive shop and test out some - ours are 6 years old and we are probably looking at getting a new one for my husband who has had an irritating whistle in his for 2 or 3 years now and appears to be unrepairable. Ours are TUSA and US Divers (we went with the cheap ones when we first starting diving).

Also I would suggest getting regs with balanced first and second stages for ease of breathing.
