i have seen a guide book to the bonaire marine park - is that still available somewhere - and is there a newer edition (thought i saw that somewher)?
also interested in a good reef ecology book - one that is fairly indepth and not too superficial or simplistic - although not exactly textbook like (I do have a degree in biology but do not want to be overly burdened by details)
and looking for a good id book that has inverts, fish and corals in it (something less expensive then the set of three books)

thanks

Russ - We have "Reef Fishes Corals and Invertabrates of the Caribbean A Diver's Guide," by Elizabeth Wood and Lawson Wood. It's not as terrific as Humann's book, but fairly thorough. ISBN number 0-658-01309-2. Nice photos, symbols for habitat, diet, and behavior, and illustrations demonstrating fish family identification.

Russ,
First- in January, "The Nautical Store" by the south entrance to the marina had a few copies of "new Guide to the Bonaire Marine Park". I bought two of them and there were at least a couple left. Second- besides the set of four Humann's books, I've got two others that I found a joy to read:
1) "Guide to Marine Life - Caribbean Bahamas Florida by Marty Snyderman & Clay Wiseman (1-881652-06-8)at $34.95 with several sections including 'Marine Habitats, Phylum by Phylum coverage of Invertebrates, Vertebrates, & Marine Mammals, and 'Enjoying the Marine Environment'. Of course, lots of pictures
2) "REEF, A Safari Through the Coral World" by Jeremy Stafford-Deitsch (1-84100-026-4) $??.?? (a Chrismas gift from a dive buddy). Part One- Natural History of the Reef, Part Two- Journey Through the Coral World.
Chet
