I have been to Bonaire a few times in the past always with a group or at least one other diver. I have a last minute chance to take some time off but no dive partner. I am curious to hear from others who have ventured to Bonaire on their own.
I would like to do some shore diving also while I am there which makes finding a dive partner that much more critical.
I am thinking about staying at Buddy Dive or Captain Don's. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Also, how is the diving in July? I have only been to Bonaire in November or December.

Russ,

If you are staying at Habitat you should have no problem in getting a buddy they have/had a board you can post or ask when you do your orientation. Suggest you also talk to the DM's and dive shop crew they can always help.

Been to Bonaire three times (so far) as a solo traveler - and diver actually.

Plenty of opportunities to hook up with others were I so inclined. Best bet is your dive op. Put the word out and socialize.

If you always prefer to dive with others, boat diving would be the first choice for instant company?

Russ.. simply be sociable & you'll find dive mates. The local watering hold is always good place to start :-). Otherwise go out on a dive boat & talk to others on the boat.

Thanks for your advice, I am going to take the plunge next week at Buddy Dive, booked my room and air today. It was nice to be able to cash in air miles on short notice. Now I guess I had better get packing...the pool will be open soon.
