Hey,

Anyone ever heard of a big green moray eel named Mr. Rogers on Bari Reef? We were in a LDS today telling the owner about our trip and how a big, green, free swimming moray freaked out our 15 yr old son on our first night dive on Bari. He said it was called Mr. Rogers.

We knew about Charlie the Tarpin. Saw him at least four times while we were there. Great fish. So friendly. Lots of people gave us the heads up about him.

Never knew the name...someone told me a few years ago that it was the same green moray eel that was in the aquarium at the old Den Laman. Don't know if this is true or not.

There have been many incarnations of Mr. Rogers and also Charlie the tarpon. I met the original Mr. Rogers over 20 years ago on my first night dive with Ibo on New Year's eve at the old Hotel Bonaire...I am sure he (not Ibo!) had many progeny since.

We called her "Moray Lisa" she lived in the tug out in front of Sunset Beach for 10 years or so (1990-2000). We fed her tuna then "petted" her I have lots of old video (Hi 8 mm) of it.

When I grew up Charlie was a TUNA. We called him "Tommy".

Karen,
We, too, have been told the same :-)
I remember eating at the restaurant and watching the HUGE eel in the aquarium!

I remember the night of the Den Laman Break Out when the Nurse Shark organized a rebellion. It flick up a piece of coral rubble and smashed the glass, flooding the restaurant. Everyone rushed to the aid of the fish and returned them to the sea.

TKS, Michael.

I have always wondered who was behind the Great Escape. ;–)

I have also heard sadder news, that the larger moray from DL was killed during an attempt to return her to the restaurant. Is that true?? I had enjoyed seeing her at the bottom wreck at Cap'n Don's. Didn't know her well enough to try petting though Tino said it was ok with her. :–)
