About a month ago the stairs at Bachelor's Beach were removed because they had become too dangerous to use.

The latest update from DROB is that the new concrete stairs are being poured and will be put in place in the next few weeks.

Will post when this is complete. In the meantime the only access (although challenging) is at the south end of the parking area.

But you are correct.

Ok...this is a test! Are the stairs going to be installed on island time, Mississippi time, Chicago time, or New York time???? I've got a little over a month and want to call Bachelor's beach my home reef this trip. Who will get there first - me or the stairs? :-)

not that i want to throw a "wrench" or nothing into things...north belnem, one dive rock to the north, is a MUCH better dive...

of course IMHO :-)

besides that, what's your SO to think if you hang out at "Bachelor's Beach"

I sure hope someone cleans the yellow rock off so I can get my shot of it. When I was there in January it was completely sunk in the mud. I will be back in August and looking forward to it. I always like to get pictures of the yellow rocks that I dive.

Tribs, Thanks for the picture of the new steps. It is a nice easy site to dive and very enjoyable, seen baitballs there and our first frogfish we actually seen on our own there!

Tribs, thanks for the update. Do the stairs go all the way to the sand, or do they stop by that big rock like they used to, so when the tide is low, you have to manuever down around the rock?

They stop at the rock. I have another pic, but due to the wind (oh yeah, it's a little windy here if you didn't know it) my camera strap got into the pic.

Stairs
