Is it allowed to dive on BOPEC's property north of Karpata and the marine park? I heard from someone that it was allowed. Do you have to get permission? Thanks for the advice!

Bubbles and I dove there in May. Drive to just past the marine reserve to where to turn is to gotomeer and keep going straight to just past a wall. There you will find a small boat ramp that makes enty and exit really easy. We saw a large midnight parrot when we dove there.

We dove there a couple of times last October. Great dive site! You do have to swim north though because if you go south, you are in the reserve which isn't allowed.

That is where the Windjammer is located. You actually cannnot go on the the property of Bopec proper, but just south is okay..

Or go just north of Bopec. Drive up all the way to the gate of Bopec and drive up hill on the dirt road around Bopec. Just after coming down the hill past Bopec look for a wooden stick with an old inner tube stuck on it. It marks the entry. Great dive!!!

Last year we were on Bonaire for 3 weeks and we got in 65 dives. Oil Slick was one of my favorites. It's a shame it isn't a shore dive anymore! Thanks for the invitation, we'll try to give you a call while we're there.

65.. nice. you'll appreciate the unmarked/different dives even better. All of the marked ones are good (with a few exeptions) So it will be nice for you to check out some of the other sites opposed to being 'new' here.

I checked today and... nope!!!
:-(
Wonder what's the fuss... there has been a ladder there for ages. Don't understand why it can't be just replaced.

well Bas can I sign up for some nice dives with you when I come to Bonaire in October?? I am pretty advanced (Bonaire since 1974) Quit some Dutch cold/dark water experience plus the North sea wrecks. I would like a Bopec-dive. I guess I haven't been there yet. In returmn I will cook you some fine dinners.

Hallo Martin, First I shall introduce myself. I am Bas' mom. And I was teasing Bas a little bit. I wasn't too smart on the computer, but when I was on Bonaire the first two weeks of July, Bas signed me up on the BT ( not to confuse with Bas Tol)Anyways now I am back in Holland and I was trying to do what Bas has told me. And YES I succeeded.
But now serious. Indeed I dove the northsea, but it is a while ago. The way we did it was in our divingclub called '' Triton''. They organized boatdives several times a year. then the boat took us from Den Helder or IJmuiden to the wrecks. And believe me IF the water was clear and the tide right it was just wonderful. There was only one slight problem. You had to be sure to be one of the first persons going overboard, because many divers make a mess as soon as they are in the water. They make lots of dust. But when you are going down and you see the whole wreck completely covered with soft coral, anemones etc. Northsea crab, starfish and lots of other fishes it is really WAUW.
But you have to find a fisherman with a boat who is willing to take you and who knows where to find the wrecks. But also the most beautiful wheather can be very dispointing, when you go overboard and somehow the water is not clear. Happened to me a couple of times. And that cost you a whole day.
I hope you can do something with the information

Hanneke, In that case I must start to compliment you with your great house. We saw the outside of it last time we where on the island and had a BBQ at Bas's(SP??) house.

I think you must know Arnold. I think he's a Triton member as well. He's working for Holdive Oostvoorne. When our divingclub (Team Amphora Rotterdam) is going to the northsea we usualy go with "Get Wet", so I figured that we could try another ship for a change. And I know 2 dives and 12+ hours on the "road" is a bit long.
