My husband and I will be traveling to Bonaire end of July- staying in Belnem area. We have a 13 yr old diver and a 7 yr old snorkeler. We are looking at enrolling the 7 yr old in Buddy's morning kids program or a Sasy class with Dive Friends, but would definitely like to spend days together where one of us can be at the surface with him while he snorkels and the other dives with the teen and vice versa. Any easy site suggestions appreciated! Dive friends mentioned you can only use Sasy under the supervision of a PADI instructor- wondering why most of the shops list the equipment in their rental sections? Not familiar with the regulations on this...Thanks!

Kimberly, not sure about the SASY info and can only guess that it is listed under rentals because even though it is done with the supervision of an instructor you would still need to pay for the equipment. As for sites that are good for both diving and snorkeling and for ease of entry I would suggest getting a copy of Bonaire Shore Diving Made Easy by Susan Porter. It explains entries and exits and indicates sites that are good snorkel sites as well... the Andreas, Margate, Tori's... the list is numerous! Your kids will love Bonaire!

Kimberly, I second Susan's advice! My 10 year old daughter studied Shore Diving Made Easy before we went to Bonaire and knew exactly what sites were what and it made her feel very much at ease about going in the water to snorkel! The book explains things very clearly and is well worth the money. Hope you and your family have a wonderful trip.

Not sure about Sasy, but can also recommend BSDME by Susan Porter. I am working on taking a class to Bonaire and we need to split the group into snorkelers and divers - and also want to be at the same location. We pretty much used the book to pick easy entries, plus depth levels for where the reef begins. That is a big bonus and a wonderful part of her book. We pick the shallower spots so the snorkelers can enjoy more aquatic life. I also like the sites that have a lot of life before the reef drops off. (Margate and both Andreas come to mind, Tori's is pretty interesting too.) Good luck! I'm sure your family will have a blast!

Angel City is a good spot for both diving and snorkeling also.
