I'm looking for new boots and the Blue Reef Ultra 5mm just went on sale (almost too good to pass up!). Any one use these? If so, is the sole thick enough for a dive junky shore diving on Bonaire (4-5 dives per day)? Thanks!

Blue Reef, is that leasure pro? I think I had some of those a few years back. I don't think the soles are going to be thick enough. Make sure you take your fins with you when buying new boots. A real heavy(thick) sole may not fit in your fin... Ron

Yep, Leisure Pro, but not the regular Blue Reef. Those are too thin. This is the Ultra which seems to have a much thicker sole.

I'm also looking at the Mares Trilastic 5mm.

I'm a big fan of the Sea Soft Sunrays http://seasoftscuba.com/products.php?productid=SRB
You can hike through any conditions with 'em. I've even seen urchins scurry to get out of the way when I wade through. I noticed Bruce B. has them in stock at Carib Inn.

The Blue Reef Ultra are pretty good especially for the price . I would however concur with Bruce , if you can go for the Sea Soft you will be set . Much thicker sole . Pinnacle also make a thick sole boot . Like a previous post suggests , consider your fin pocket or you may need a new pair of fins to fit the thick sole .

I used these Tilos short booties on Bonaire last November and was very happy with them: http://scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?product_id=TilosHardSoleShort.
Sturdy soles, light weight, great price.

Thirds on the Sun-Rays. Those arch supports make walking much easier with all your gear on.

I just bought 2 pair of the SunRay seasoft boots & they look real fine! I anticipate giving them a good workout next month. My last boots were Henderson & they've been pretty well worn down.
