Without getting into the pro's and con's are there sites that are heavily used by the cruise ship passengers? On other Islands I've noticed that a few sites were impacted and best avoided while the rest saw little or no increased pressure. Bonaire Bound in 7 Days!

Avoid Windsock Beach, Eden Beach, Plaza Beach on cruise ship days. I stayed well south those days, we tried going north one day and still they were all there, lots of tour buses stopping at the north sites to take a pic and clog up the roads. Just my two cents. I would hate to get stuck behind one going north. The tour buses do go south though too, but they don't really stop at the dive sites I go to there. I totally avoid anything by town when in port.

Avoid 1000 Steps in the morning when cruise ships are in. It is not over-run with divers but the number of tour buses and taxis stopping was staggering. We arrived and left without getting out of the truck because we knew we would not be able to get near the steps with everyone out taking photos.

Yo Mo, too late we already had all the fishes , Wednesday was bad we got stuck behind two tour buses on the way to Old Blue. Only 4000 Pod Peops on the island that day next Wed is over 5000 of em. Apart from the resorts I doubt you will see them diving elsewhere.

Avoid both of the Andreas...They're loaded with cruise passengers who've signed up for the snorkle excursions. All the moorings were taken (Mushi Mushi, Sea Cow & Woodwind) as I ended a dive there on a Wednesday and surfaced through a sea of yellow snorkle vests.

Ahh Bruce, you got to see the elusive yellow breasted air sucker - what a treat. I hope you got pictures. And to think, there was a whole school of them...

Wiltzzy - just go to the south sites - there are GOBS of them. OR if you are staying at an oceanfront resort just stay around there and dive. I think we'll be there are the same time.

I recently read an article on some of the reef preservation measures being taken in Belize. One of the items that was cited as taking some pressure off the reefs in Belize was a drop off in cruise traffic. The reason given for this drop off in cruise ships was a bump up in Marine Park fees being applied to cruise ship passengers to $10.00 per head. Guess that explains why Bonaire is not charging a marine park fee to cruise ship passengers doesn't it. I reckon I don't have to contact the appropriate governmental officials on Bonaire for an explanation on this issue as directed by the General Manager of the TCB after all. I think I have my answer.
