Is May a good time for a trip to Bonaire, I don't seem to see very many posts with people who have gone in May. Also, will a dive skin and shorty be adequate for diving in May.

I like May as there isn't any pod boats at that time, atleast in 2008. 09 may be a different story. In the past, we have found temps to be in the 80's in May. We are diviers, and use full 3mil suits to keep us warm. I'm quite sure that others will chime in on this one... Ron

Will be there 10-17 and have been in May many years in the past.

Hubby dives lined/insulated skins and I dive lycra skins only. Each person's insulation value is different though LOL. Multiple dives can leave your core chilly but overall you could be fine with that you're taking if you're dived it in BON before.

Enjoy your trip......

Gary; I have been on island many times end of April/start of May.Even have a group out of NY I am taking there MAy 4-11..pm if interested.
I am 6' 170 lbs and use a 5mm suit there.Can get away with a 3mm but wind up adding a 3mm vest /hood by 3rd day of diving.Temp 80 but core temp drops doing 4/5 dives a day.

Gary, We both dive skins in May; I've just added a warm-water hood. Weather is fabulous and water is warm! Ron, there's cruise traffic scheduled for May '09 (boo). We're looking forward to seeing you and meeting up with Kobi too! :-)

Ron, If it's 3-10th, I'll join you! Great idea as will be difficult to try to meet up with one another. I'm so not bringing a cell or laptop!

Hi Gary, I wear a 2mm shorty and my wife a 3mm full. She is usually cold by the end of the second dive so this year she is going to try a beanie (?spelling). We usually get about an hour each dive.

Sorry I will miss all you guys, I arrive on May 25th, would have been nice to meet you all at BobbieJans, my favorite place on Bonaire. Ron, I think they pipe the smoke over to BOA!

Safe travels to everyone.

Patrick

Works for David and I! That'll be our last night on Bonaire, so a great way to end our vacation. Thanks for pulling this together, Ron. Looking forward to seeing everyone who makes it to Bobbejan's that evening for dinner.

I'm at Golden Reef Inn. I arrive on Sun AM red-eye out of EWR and leave the following Sun AM. My other buddy John is arriving Sun night on American Eagle through SJU. I'll be picking him up from airport all salty, sticky and smelling like neoprene. I hope to have at least a few dives is by time he arrives. This will be my 3rd trip back. I'm up for meeting folks sooner than Friday. Monday night, I'll be doing Golden Reef Inn's CHEF GIBY'S MONDAY NIGHT BBQ (all you can eat) 6:30 PM. $20 bucks. if anyone wants to join me, be there.
