I'll be heading down next week. Besides the east coast which sites are best to see eagle rays? Any place shallow would be great too my wife is a snorkeler.

Invisibles.....as a snorkeler myself, I see them almost every trip. :-) Look for pock marks in the sand, like a moonscape. That's a good indication where they have been feeding.

We are in Bonaire right now. this is our 4th trip and one of our favorite places to see eagle rays is "the invisibles". Many times we see them in the shallows digging in the sand. We were there yesterday. We didn't see any but it's one of the few times we haven't

We saw one last week at eighteenth palm and one in front of the house reef at Bellefonte - (near Windsock)
Lots of turtles at Andrea 1 and 2 in the shallows by the way

Have seen them two mornings in a row. First sighting was at Red Slave, but this is a poor snorkeling site.

Also saw two together at Invisibles this morning in about 25 ft of water just past the mooring buoy. There seem to be a lot of eagle ray sightings this trip.

Here are the rays at Invisibles:

Dynamic Duo

We are also seeing lots of turtles; some good snorkeling sites for turtles are Margate Bay and Red Beryl.

We are snorklers also and would LOVE to see Eagle Rays. We have been in Bonaire several times and not seen any yet. we will be in Bonaire next week. How far out from the shore or what water depth would you see the rays?? North or south of the entry? Any other specifics would be appreciated.

We will post pictures if we can.
Thanks,
Vann evans

The place to look for them at Invisibles is around the mooring buoy.

Great! Thanks everybody for the tips. I asked this question myself last year, got a few answers but was still unlucky - didn't get to soo any. Invisibles - early morning - mooring buoy.

By the way Bas, I'm preparing for a trip to Australia and found your site, quite by accident. Great stuff, I found some good tips there as well.

Awesome pic, Bob, you can sense the movement! And I keep hoping for no April showers as well...

Some have commented to snorkel/dive in the morning to see the rays. A morning has many hours - what time is considered best?

Great pictures and thanks for the info. We usually stay south of town but I just have never made it to Invisibles. Been to most of the others down that way Yellow Hut is one of my favorites tons of sponges. Haven't been to the Eighteenth Palm either it was on my list the last time but never made it. We can drift by the Bellefonte from our hotel. 7 more days in this frigid weather till paradise.

We usually see them at Invisibles. We had a great experience the last time we were there-a couple of them in the distance...we just stopped and waited. They came closer, kind of checked us out, then decided to be on an acrobatic show. Dancing together-it was really humbling!

We dove Invisibles 3 times and did the Rock next to it twice last two weeks. 0 spotted eagle rays. That's why we did so many repreats there. The second reef is so full of fish it was the best. Our favorite site.

What time of morning are you in the water to catch all these Eagle Ray sightings? We're in Bonaire now and are thinking of heading out there tomorrow morning.

Thanks.
