I'm heading off to Bonaire Friday morning, I can't wait! Last time we were there (last year, March, my first time), it was an excellent time, but there was a lot of particulate matter in the water, and vis was (only) around 50'. Tho diving here in Chicago 50' vis is great, so I wasn't complaining. But hows it lookin now??

We're taking a GUE class from Benji Schaub, so if the vis is not so great maybe he won't notice as much when we're out of trim.

There isn't 50ft viz in chicago, or anyplace close to the city! I would like to find that kind of viz!!! We were on Island last october and had around 100ft. Will be there again for 2wks in May... Ron

I've had good vis (50+) diving the SS Wisconsin at around 100-120 ft. And I hear it gets really good (100+) at Haigh really early in the season (or ice diving), but I haven't seen it. I just wish it got 78 degrees...

Ron - the divers (my husband, included) on Lake Michigan regularly say that the vis is excellent (relatively speaking :-) of course) on the local wrecks. 50+ feet is, apparently, not unusual at depth. Then again, to get this you have to bust out the 7 mils, the hoods, thick gloves, etc. No thanks, I'll take Bonaire (and my shorty) any day!

I was there last week and the vis was good. I'd say a little above average for Bonaire.

I don't dive Lake Michigain any more, too cold! I do have 700 loged dives in that lake, over the years. Haigh Quarry, Well, the best viz I have seen there is 30ffw. I don't ice dive anymore, so it might be good under the ice. The viz is better in the lake now then in earlier years due to the Zibera mussels in the lake eating the vegatation... Ron
