We've just settled on our vacation plans - heading to Bonaire on 3/7 for a week. We'll be staying at Caribbean Club Bonaire and planning on lots of shore dives.

This will be our second trip to Bonaire. We were there in July 2004. What kind of big changes should we expect?

I was a member of BonaireTalk back then, but I've since forgotten my Username. I look forward to rejoining this community.

Well Joan, speaking for myself, I think the biggest changes are the amount of building construction going on (should not really affect you) & the increased volume of cruise ships which visit the island.
Enjoy your stay!

Salt Pier is now a guided dive only. Certain rental truck agencies will want to charge your CC $500-$1000 for a deposit against damage. Wild donkeys are not as abundant as back then, and cruise ship traffic has increased dramatically!

Please visit the donkey sanctuary, take some carrots and apples, and support Marina in anyway you can!!

We didn't make it to the donkey sanctuary last trip, so it's at the top of my list (well... after diving). Now I just need to convince the rest of my family. ;-)

Last time we did both Town Pier and Salt Pier as guided dives also. Can all of the dive ops make arrangements for them?

Yes - just give them your passport numbers and a couple of days notice... and welcome back to BT JoAn
