We're leaving in two days to go to Bonaire and have some snorkeling gear for the kids(should of tried it out in the local pool but haven't yet) but didn't have the best selection in our small town. If something absolutely doesn't work can we find something there? Do they also have those longsleeve nylon swim shirts there for kids(we are all very pale)? Thanks for this last minute help! Linda

Linda, if it helps, we have a small supply of kids wetsuits.

We have found that facemasks are the hardest fits for our kids and have always bought them locally at a dive shop (before leaving) with a good snorkel to encourage them to explore and dive down. Because of luggage size we usually rent fins for them but in Bonaire at Toucan it was cheaper to buy them than rent them for the week. We snorkelled (11 and 14 yr old) with just T shirts and swimsuits in January without any problems but our kids are pretty tough about water temp. Our one son is VERY fair skinned but with the shirt and sunscreen no burns this year!

Thanks Ross. We tried everything out today and some parts worked and some didn't but it's good to know that if we have total failure with the snorkel equipment that there is an option on Bonaire. It's also good to know that T-shirts work. We leave tomorrow! Linda
