Thanks for that question, Mike Tschebull, I was just going to ask the same when I saw your message. In addition, I want to know if there have been any damages on the land surface, vegetation, buildings etc. from that hurricane. It seems like that the tourist business arenīt too keen to answer to these questions. I will greatly appreciate it if someone have some relevant, honest info.

The name of the hurrican was Lenny - if you go to the subject EVERYTHING ELSE you can read a big number of postings about it.

I have heard several resorts have lost their boat docks. I am coming to Bonaire on December 9th. Does anyone have imformation on Captain Don's dock status?

We just returned from Bonaire. Lions Dive lost their dock. Buddy's dock is gone. We did not see Captain Don's but suggest you contact them directly. Many dive sites are damaged, especially above 30 feet, but many others are still great. The west side of Klein Bonaire and sites north of town are least damaged. Contrary to many reports the diving is still great.

I was in Bonaire when the waves hit. All of the docks, piers and waterfront resteraunts/dive shops between Sand Dollar and Captain Don's were washed away. Sand Dollar salvaged all of their gear, but were unable to salvage their compressors which was an inconvenience to divers staying there. Boats began departing from the marina the Sat. after the storm. Other than buildings built at sea level, we didn't see any other major damage. The day after the storm (Wed) we dove Ol' Blue and it was still in good condition, although we hadn't dived any of the northern sites before. The southern sites were too silted up to dive during our stay after the storm. The good news was we got some excellent dives in on the generally rough East coast. Even with the damage, I would not hesitate to make another trip to Bonaire.
