Years ago I had a fantastic night dive at the
Town Pier.

Did the hurricane take it out or is it as good a
dive as it always was ? I can't find any
mention of it here.

I dove the town pier last month, it was not damaged by the waves as it was mostly protected by Klein Bonaire.

Irwin,

Dee Scarr and I dove the Town Pier a few days after the Lenny originated waves to see how things survived the waves, and other than needing to reseat a few tube sponges the site was pretty much untouched - protected by the lee of Klein Bonaire as Barry says.

I've been back numerous times (mostly for UW Clean-Up dives) and it's still as it was before.

Ok, I'm getting curiouser and curiouser. I've been reading these posts for a couple of weeks now and keep seeing references to, and comments from, Jake, the Clean-Up Dives, Carin, Peppee, BBQs, and other social, dive-related events and people. This will be our 5th visit to Bonaire and the only events we've followed up on have been the resort slide presentations. We try to find out when these are on and attend. We spent an afternoon with Dee Scarr several years ago and hope to do so again. Any info available? We'll be there for a month and will have four "sets" of friends visiting us at different times throughout, and will want to help them to get to know and love Bonaire, too.

Well, Dee's on-island starting in November again, until June. The clean up dives, I think, are on the first Saturday of every month (I've not participated in a while - check with Green Submarine - www.greensubmarine.com). Weekly slide show and event listing can be found in the Bonaire Reporter (http://www.bonairereporter.com). No idea on Peppee, but Caren is at Sea & Discover (http://www.seandiscover.com).
