I am an advanced diver (took AOW in jamacia a year ago) I am diving with my dad and we have always liked diving with a dive master in small groups. We are planning on diving with tocan diving. Do they put a dive master in the water durring boat dives?

Also i am going with my son who is 20 and he wants to know the gambeling age and if it is really enforced.

Alec.. Welcome to B.T..When I dove with Toucan at the Plaza, they always put someone in the water on the boat dives. Don 't know about the gambling question.

Alec, welcome to Bonaire Talk! The legal gambling age is 21, drinking age is 18. I don't know how strict they are in regard to the gambling.

Alec,

Every operation we've done boat dives with has put a DM in the water on every boat dive, with the option diving in a group with the DM (with your buddy) or going off with your buddy on your own. We tend to go slow, so usually drop behind the group on the way out, they pass us coming back. Most of the DM's are good at spotting things you may miss on your own.

On the other hand consider doing some shore dives on your own. The ability to go at your own pace, make your own schedule, do a 90 min dive if air and computer permit is one of the great things about Bonaire.

We've gone out with Toucan many times. They run a very good operation and have great staff. They also offer guided shore dives if you want a DM to go with you to sites the boats won't take you to (they tend to concentrate on boat-only Bonaire sites and Klein Bonaire).
