OK, we're arriving in less than 2 weeks now and I'm getting geeked. I've seen discussions here before on this topic, but would like some more opinion on snorkeling @ Kelin Bonaire...

Dave, YES !!!!! snorkeling Klein Bonaire is defintely worth the trip. Fewer people, reefs are more prisine, etc. etc. Sea Cow Water Taxi provides transportion. Give their site a visit:

Take Renne's Woodwind trip to Klien, she will introduce you to many of her fish friends. It's definately worth the trip to klien, like Kelly said. Rennee has lots of different excusions to Klien, she can also arrange a video of it too. Snacks and drinks included for your pleasure, check it out, Her excursions are a favorite of many on this board.

Do a drift snorkel with the Sea Cow. They take and drop you off and you just drift along towards No Name Beach. It takes about 2 hours but you can get out at any time if you want. It is a great trip - we did it twice when we were there (December 1999 - just after the Lenny 'surge' - and it was the best place to snorkel at the time due to the damage done by the wave surge).

We did a nice trip this year on the Oscarina: first to Klein and then to Andrea II. They provided a snorkel guide (and we were the only two passengers), and Karen (the skipper and owner) made wonderful pumpkin soup and banana bread, which we had between the two sites. Also nice punches (rum and non). Karen offers a morning or afternoon snorkeling sail trip. Info on the www.infobonaire.com site

Josie - Did you do an all-day snorkel trip on the Oscarina? Their website looks great as do their trips and the yummy snacks! Mostly I like that they will offer basic instruction for a novice (which 1 or 2 of us are), and the locations sound great. The tips I come across on this site are unbeatable! Who needs the travel guides beyond the initial intros. to a place and for the basic contact info.? The 1st hand accounts really say it all.

No, we did the half day trip, and used the motor so we could cover more ground. It was really nice, even without the sail all the time. We also did a Sushi Sail (and again were the only two guests, so it felt very special!) Karen is fun! And her snorkel Guide Beth is great too.
