Hi

I'm going to Bonaire next week and this time I just must do the east side. I need material for a magazine article I hope to publish next year. As you have seen here I have enough shots of small things but not that many of big animals.

I plan to do a couple of trips with Larry, but I think I need more. Anyone on the island who are willing to do some shore dive guiding on the east side. I've read of a man called Bas - is he still around?

I am on Bonaire from sep 21 to oct 7. I don' have a phone there but I read my mail every day. And you can find me almost every day at lunch time eating at the Penguin...

Henrik your bumming me out dude. I'll be there on the 11th and I would surely like to meet you. Why don't you stay a few extra days and we can dive the east side.

I'm sure someone will chime in with Bas's e-mail. I need it also. I'm pretty sure I have it at home which I can get later, if needed.

Henrik,

I am always up for some east side diving. I will be on the Island Sept 20 to first part of October. Stick with your plan to go with Larry and definitely go with Bas on some dives. I will try to hook up with you and Bas on a dive or two and if you want more east side time and Bas is not available I may be able to work in a dive or two.

Oooooh, Henrik!!! I can't wait for your trip and to maybe have a sneak peak at some more shots of yours....if you are permitted to do so with this being a professional assignment, etc.

Larry is a terrific and fun fella besides being great on the East side with the diving over there.

Bas will take you out on some great runs, too.

I can't wait to see some results from next week!

Have a wonderful trip and I hope you run into some "large" critters to shoot/film.

Maybe you can find Golly, the huge fish we have seen in the shallows on the leeward side, too....that would be a feat....to get that critter on film! Golly certainly got a lot of folks' attention, including mine and my husband's, too. We were snorkeling in front of the Divi (Calabas) when we experienced this tremendously large fish at about 15-20 feet down. Ayo. Carole

If the east side is what you wish then Bas is your man. I have gone on many dives with him and each dive was better than the one before. If you cannot reach him by email I can give you his number. Have a great trip. Kellie

After diving with Bas, I have not felt the need to do the east side by boat.

Kellie, welcome to Bonaire Talk.

Yana, you have to love Daisy, it's the lawIf I had not met Daisy and Billy, I probably would not have considered adopting our JRT Sadie:-)

Bas, if you are reading this, it is your fault

Henrik,

Bas is your guy!

But, my friend, be careful of what you wish. My experience of the big "fish" in Bonairian waters is not the same as say, Provo.

Just be aware.

I'm curious, how does it work with Bas, as far as getting together. Do you meet up around Lac Bay or in Kralendik? Or does it depend on who has or does not have a vehicle?

If you contact Bas through email or phone and tell him your situation he can be very flexible. There is no doubt he will be able to work with you. Happy Diving
