Hi everyone,
I have a favor to ask. there is a Memorial on the Hilma Hooker that I would like to have at least scraped off a bit with a abrasive sponge or similar ,not a dive knife,,, on Oct 3. the Memorial Plaque is on the Hilma Hooker . If anyone is willing to do this please email me me privately and I will let you know where the plaque is..It is inside the wreck so that make a difference who does it..
you can see it here

Interesting, Freddie. I had no idea that was there. I will look for it when I go in Oct. And I too will give it a gentle cleaning if necessary.

I was there, if this was the man who had the h-attack, Jan-feb about two years ago. It was a sad day.

Hey Jerry,Cecil and Margarite {bout time you joined us again Margarite we have missed you!} Bobby died on March 11, 2002, they figure that he never even got down to the Hooker as he was found still floating in the shallows..
The reason why I would like someone to clean the Memorial is that on that day Oct 3,2006 the fund that was started for Bobby Shea will be transferred to the Jastrzebski "Sink a Ship" fund that I manage..Bobby and Capt Ken and JeanMarie were good friends and Bobby would have wanted to give anything he could in their honor.. I thought it would be a fitting thing to see if anyone would lend a hand and clean the Memorial.. It is in pretty bad shape and actually a new one is being made and will probably be installed sometime within the next few months.. I guess I just want to do some housekeeping on it as I keep the Jean and Ken underwater Memorial Cross that is here in Hampton Bays clean... Thanks for your help I will email you two the best directions that I have to the plaque..Hugs

Freddie, I will make a point of visiting this memorial with a soft scrubber when I dive the hooker, if you like. I won't go back to Bonaire until probably April, now, but I'd be happy to clean this one or its replacement.

It sounds people would be happy to clean and see this memorial, so maybe the best thing would be to post the directions here, for all. Even if it does not need cleaning I would like to pay my respects.

He sounded like a nice young man taken to soon.

That was not my guy. This poor man got over stressed on the way out. He was young, but overweight. That was two that year. So sad.

The Plaque is straight in a hole just astern of amidship. Its in about 20 feet attached to a catwalk.It is screwed to the metal mesh of the catwalk. These are the only directions I have I hope you can find it.. Just remember to dive safely and if you can't see it don't go looking inside for it..and also please make sure your buddy is right there behind you and waiting for you..{mother hen coming out in me,,,}

TotO, You know the old saying of what happens to people when they "assume" and state things that are not backed up with facts....?

Cecil, ditto what Brian said. Have fun too!

Freddie, I did look, a lot, but did not find it. Sorry. At least I did not forget, which in my case is pretty good.
