Here are a few shots of things from the reef (Bari) you won't see swimming past the ReefCam:
Christmastree 1 Christmastree 2
Flamingo tongue vase sponge
I shot the sponge with 'close-up' lens setting, the other three are with the 1:3 macro. Sponges are easy, they are everywhere and they don't move. Snails (once you spot them) are a little harder; they don't move much, but usually are somewhat buried back in coral branches. Now, the Christmastree worms; you need to be very slow, calm, and somewhat 'sneaky' to get the camera 6 inches away before they 'disappear'. I suppose if I waited long enough, I'd get a second chance, but by then, something else usually catches my eye for the next photo. Next year, I'll work on the 'patience' issue; I want to get some blenny and goby pictures.
Chet

Chet, thanks for sharing the great pix. Makes me really long for a reef tour....I'll have to settle for looking at some video footage.

Great photos Chet...feel free to share anytime! I have a friend that just got back from Palau and shot quite a few Christmas Trees. He got a lot of macro pics and the coral was very abundant.

Did you come at the Xmas tree worms from the side? I've been told and it's worked for me a couple of times when current hasn't pushed me forward, that it's better to come at them from the side, make no movement, and snap quickly than to come at them from above.

Didn't realy think about it much when taking the pictures, but did definately come from the side; because that's what I wanted a picture of.

Have fun, Ginny. We saw lots of worms in Bonaire, and several surprises as well. Enjoy your stay!

Ginny, if you don't sit still, and do up the seat belt, the man with the pretty hat, and the keys to the cabin won't start the chariot.(lol)But once he does.....all bets are off. Just leave a little Bonaire for the rest of us. Have a great time!!

Maybe it is a new way of cool chatting I have not clued into yet....you know the blond stuff....or this being North America "we aint got it yet." ...takes time to travel up here. Just like they say "no way" and the response is supposed to be "way". That took me a long time to figure out...I wanted respond "yes way" :-))))))))
