Does anyone know if Diving equipment is cheap to buy in Bonaire. I need to buy 2 BCDs and 2 complete sets of regs. The prices in the UK are fairly high so I am thinking about waiting till our holiday in October. Is it worth waiting or buying before I go.

Any advice would be welcome.

I buy all my gear from Bruce Bowker at Carib Inn. It's cheaper there than in the US, and he's great, knows equipment, and maintains and repairs it effectively.
You can contact him at bruce@caribinn.com for prices in US dollars or Antillean guilders and compare those to your UK prices. Some gear he tends to keep in stock, but other things he would need to order for you in advance so he'd have it for you when you arrive in October.
Considering how high the British pound is running against the US dollar, buying here would probably give you a really great price!

I can 3d that on Bruce Bowker at Carib Inn. Some of the best prices I've ever seen at the dealer level on scuba gear.

I asked for a quote for the following gear:

2 x Buddy Sport BCDs

2 x Scubapro MK25AF + S600 + R290 Octopus + SM36 Suunto gauges + 2 Scuba Pro Reg bags.

The following are the prices I obtained from Caribinn:

MK 25 - $181 each
S600 - $258 each
R190 - $94 each

Unfortunately they don't sell Buddy BCDs.

So I tried to get some prices from our local dealers. The best retail price was £1410 ($2495) but following a few emails I managed to get one dealer down to £1085 ($1920) including postage so I am now the proud owner of some new kit which hopefully I can try out this weekend.
