To those of you who have used the diveshop at the Sand Dollar--Bonaire Dive & Adventure--are there any divemasters there who you would particularly recommend (or NOT recommend)?

Doug

Jerry Ligon, a biologist and dive instructor, is fabulous on fish i.d. and teaches a course in that. When he's not teaching or taking people bird watching, he's on the boat as a divemaster. He's great at spotting even tiny critters and recognizes a rare one when he sees it.

I always enjoyed a dive with Benji.

I second Tish on this. Jerry is great. I would also like to recommend Ilse Wikerink (if she's still there). Great eye, a lot of fun, and very safety oriented (without overwhelming you) Michael (I can't remember his last name) was also great during the rides to Klein Bonaire. If Roger Willem is still there, you may also want to give him a try. I never dove with him, but I hear great things. Hard to go wrong in Bonaire. Great choice with the Sand Dollar! Have fun. Ilse was there yesterday morning! Great dives with Wietze and Laetitia. Did not dive with Jerry -- he remained in the boat on my dives but what a source of information!!!

When I was there in Oct. Michael was leaving for Australia. Benji, Suzie, and Jerry are all great. If you get the chance I would highly recommend taking Jerry's Naturalist course.

I just came back and loved dealing with Ilsa, Letitia Benji and a guy from Venezuala. All were great and Letitia was very nice...I also felt they were very service oriented once we got through the mandatory orientation and away from the office ladies. 16 dives in 4 days, 4 were boat dives of which 1 was a night dive with them that was spectacular. My only shore dive I would not recommend was Nukove as the entry was impossible without pain and bleeding. Also, I recommend diving Alice In Wonderland from a boat with a divemaster as the reef is complex and deep with a sandbar in between.
