If the Pink Bus is parked at Salt Pier, or even "quite close", is it allowed by the powers that be to dive directly off shore from it?

Ron, nowadays you need to have written permission from the harbour master to dive the salt pier, just like when you want to do the townpier.

I'm trying to follow up on this post; is this legal and do-able?: I don't know how to link to a previous post, so it's cut and paste.

The dive master that ran the shop on site at the place we rented an apartment told us the following: You can go somewhere and set up a trip to the pier or you can dive at the site next to the pier. In saying this he said then you following the proper rules of diving and go into the current to start with (which would lead you to the pier essentially). And then, oh look there is a pier! Well here we are, and we might as well dive it!!!! It was so funny! He was really against having to pay fees to dive the sites though. I guess his reasoning would be ok, however I suggest searching the horizon for any ships that would be coming into the pier. We saw several during our recent trip. So watch out for the boats.

Ron,

I think it's "do-able", I am pretty sure it's not legal and I wonder if it's smart? With the size of ships that moor there, the water movements they produce are rather nasty. You don't want to be there when that happens.

Without ships, it's an easy dive and having to pay for permits seems silly to me.
