Tod, Drive to the south, find the stone marked Hilma Hooker, get in the water and head towards the mooring bouy. There used to be 3 of them. You can also do it underwater, just take a good compass heading. It's a great to see it coming out of the blue.

There are two buoys- the one to your left as you face the water is the bow and it is the deepest- but somehow (well, OK, it was my fault) we started at the right hand one- so we just did a circle and came back. If you go early enough (and we were there before nine am) the crowds are smaller (we had no one at all with us).

Tami, I thought there were three bouys? One on both ends and one in the middle? Maybe that's changed since I was there.

I thought that there were three as well- and the dive site report that we had said three- but I only saw two- one at each end of the ship. Was the third one the boat mooring? I just might have not been paying attention- but I had thought that I remembered them being in a triangle. It was easy enough to find the wreck!! Thank goodness for decent vis!! (you can see it from the surface since the stern is only in about 60 feet.) (Don't I sound spoiled? I just expect good vis all the time!!) Since watching Survivor-Palau now I can't wait to go dive down there- can't believe how clear that water is!!

The 3rd buoy is in shallow water (25') closer to shore. We did a drift dive from Hilma Hooker to The Lake last week. We let the current move us slowly for 15 minutes from the prop & then surfaced. We probably could have let 3-4 more minutes go by and been closer to the mooring buoy - I just didn't want to go past the entry, as it was a long way to the next site.

I usually take a compass heading between the 2 buoys. It gives me a little room for error.

I thank you all once again for the help, I'm sure that I'll have some more dive Qs by the time we get back to Bonaire 17 - 24 Sept (198 more days).

I looked it up- its www.shorediving.com. It profiles all the sites on the ABC islands and has reviews and where to park and how easy it is to enter/exit. I liked it.

I am profoundly delighted that no cad, bounder or otherwise miscreant ne're-do-well has opined that a proven method is to sit at the end of the bar with a LARGE pile of cash in front of your martini.
