Are some beaches private or does anyone have the right to access the water from anyplace they want?

Most areas are public..unless they are on private property/homes/backyards

Jim,

Some beaches are private, in fact. Also, even if a particular beach is "public", you cannot legally cross private property to get the beach (e.g. a beach behind a house - you can't just walk through the house or the private land between you and the beach).
