Saw the first signs of activity last night; a Sea Cucumber was "smoking" in the Cobra position and the Brittlestars were out and some standing on the five legs.

Two dives are planned for tonight and hopefully more events on the reef.

Check this out. Please report the coral spawning. It will serve a very useful purpose in the future to every diver.

For snorkelers, Witches Hut has several varieties of coral in less than 15 feet of water. It is an easy entry and would be a good place for checking out the coral spawning without needing tanks.

Thanks for the comments, we are currently sat outside at Chat'N'Browse.

We did not see much on Saturday night, but on our second night dive yesterday we saw two Boulder Corals releasing egg packages at 22:30 on the Habitat house reef. We also saw sponges smoking around 23:00 but they stopped before we could get a picture. More dives are planned for tonight and I hope it will be more of the main event.

Sanjeev

Thanks for the link we are recording what and when we see things, I will add the other data requested and send it on. There are a few other serious Spawning addicts at Habitat and we are sharing information.

Thanks Barbara, we will post more when we get back next week. Ernst is presenting a selection of Sue's spawning slides at the Habitat "Week in review" tonight and Jack has a few of our spawning images to use at Dema this week.

Kelly

How about this one

It was a Brittlestar orgy out there last night, I have never seen large clumps of Brittlestars smoking together before.
