Hi all,

Some of you may know that Linda and I have been sponsoring a regular underwater clean-up dive since 1998 here on Bonaire with a local dive shop. A few months ago we decided we had done the job so well that we should scale back our clean-ups from monthly to quarterly.

Well, the first quarterly underwater clean-up dive is upon us, this Saturday, September 18th, at 1pm, sponsored in conjunction with the Yellow Submarine/Photo Tours dive shops.

This date coincides with International Coastal Cleanup day, as well as Bonaire's own Tene Boneiru Limpi ("Keep Bonaire Clean") effort this coming weekend. Please come and join us.

This one will be a little unusual, as we will be going in the water to clean sand away from corals and sponges (via "fanning"), post-Ivan, in addition to collecting any trash we might find.

Yellow Submarine will provide free tanks to all participants (bring your C-card if you have not dived with them this year).

Following the clean-up, in the evening, starting at around 5:30pm, will be a potluck BBQ. Grilled meat and beverages will be provided, and the rest (salads, desserts, and other hot & cold accompaniments to share) is up to the attendees at the potluck.

If you have any questions please call Gerrie at 717-2929 or Jake at 717-6773.

If possible, please also RSVP to gerrie@bonaireyellowsubmarine.com so we can make sure we have enough tanks available.

We hope you can join us!

Jake

Well Jake, if we were getting there a day earlier you know we would get involved. As it is I feel guilty about not showing up this year for the UDNH annual cleanup (but not that guilty).
Gary
