We are planning our vacation on Bonaire and want to make a trip with Larry's Wild Side Diving. Specifically we want to make 2 drift dives along the northern and middle part of the east coast. One somewhere between Boca Onima and Spelonk. And the second south of Boca Washikemba but far north of Cai. Basically we want to dive in area's where there's no shore diving... not even with the best wind-reversal!!
I've talked to Larry about it and he would like to make a trip like that but he needs a minumum number of divers to make it worthwhile for him. It's a lot further away than the normal trips. And another factor worth considering is seasickness. Surface interval is probably also done at sea instead of the protected waters of Lac Bay.
There are 3 of us sofar so we need a few more divers. Trip is planned for wednesday september 15th. Please contact Larry or send me an e-mail if you are interested in this trip.

Bas

note for those of you who know me and might frown their eyebrows a bit over me planning a vacation on Bonaire while I live here ;-) A good friend is coming to visit for 2 weeks and I've taken time from work to have 2 weeks vacation with her on Bonaire. Why this trip with Larry? I'd like to take my friend on a cool dive trip. And I have another friend who also lives here. He (and another friend but he is off island at the time of this trip) has been shore diving the east coast for over 25 years and he has told me a lot about diving there. So as a thanks I want to treat him with this trip. We have dived from all the boca's, playa's and a few spots in between and have covered every yard between Cai and Red Slave. But there's still so much of the shore that just can't be done without a boat. That's why I'd like to make this trip.

What I expect/think the dives will be like.. first one: steep rugged drop offs covered with macro algea and sponges. Some small walls. Maybe some cracks with stuff inside, maybe some small caverns at bottom of drop off. Corals between 60' and 100', flat sand bottom.(that's what it's like at Boca Spelonk) The second dive probably has more gradual sloping drop off covered with macro algea. Cracks and small trenches in the drop off. Corals between 50' and 100' Those cracks can have communities of lobsters. (that's what it's like at Boca Washikemba)

Hey Bas,

You can tell Larry to "count us in" if we can make it down there. We are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, but that is not looking so good. I will inform you further.

Hi Gregg,

Doesn't really matter to me. Melodie is here till the 25th. We just picked a day. How about the next wednesday the 22nd? Then I think Steph can join us too. She arrives the 18th. You know her, Dutch girl, you dived with her too... and her mom.. they also stay at Divi. Steph is by herself this time.
Liz,.. same day one week later no problem for you and Ed?
I guess I should call Larry to change the date and confirm things as it looks like we have a full boat. Maybe even have too many. I'll ask how many he will take on this trip.

Bas

Bas,
I am sorry we won't be there to meet Melodie and dive with you guys on the wild side. We will be down Nov 11-Dec 2. Diving, of course, with Photo Tours. The kitchen will be open for breakfast.

Hi Yana!
Great about the breakfast... tried making those pancakes myself but it's just not the same :-)

Yes John... you would have had a spectacular view yesterday and last night!!!

Gregg, I moved the date to tuesday 21st september.. 8AM at Sorobon. It's confirmed with Larry. He will take no more than 12 divers.
You and also Liz & Ed need to contact Larry once you are on the island and give him a creditcard number for deposit. I've sent mail to Steph but no reply yet. She's in Thailand diving. Pretty sure she'll wanna go. So that means there will be 11 of us. And there's still another couple who want to go but have not yet confirmed.
