My husband and I are arriving Saturday August 14th in the evening for a 10 night trip. We are hoping to dive on Sunday (if AA delivers our dive bags). We have seen multiple postings about dolphin sightings. Does anyone know if they are still cruising the coast??? I would so LOVE to dive with the Dolphins.

Thanks
Sherri

Sherri, we had multiple dolphin sightings while in Bonaire -- they swam mostly at the 'reef line' and we had a sizable surface swim before we could reach the 'reef line'. We stayed in Belnem.
My neighbors, who just happened to be snorkeling when the dolphins swam by, did get a chance to swim with the dolphins for a few moments. She was close enough to see a pod of about 8 to 10 individuals who swam in a tight formation around a young dolphin.
Good luck,
Mary

Sherri, I too saw several pods while I was there, incidentally twice was with Mary Wills.. lol

I did see one pod close to shore though, at WannaDive (Eden Beach). The drop off is much closer to shore there and there were 4 or 5 dolphins probably within 40 feet of the shore. I'm horrible with distance, but they were very close. ;)

Good Luck and have fun!

Kelly

We were on Bonaire July 17-24 and did see dolphins one morning. We were boat diving at Bloodlet site. The pod was a short distance past reef line and was a beautiful sight.
Upon surfacing from dive, we were able to see dolphins swimming south from the dive site.
Good luck on your visit.

My dad and I were diving in Bonaire July 29-August 11, and we had just come up from a dive at Red Slave. We got to a car and a local came up and started going on bout how lucky we were ( we were confused bout this). We asked what she was talking about and she said that a pod of 30 or so dolphins had swam over our heads before we had come up. We were so mad that we didnt see them! A couple days later we were doing a drift dive at fish hut, atlantis, red beryl, and almost margate bay, once we got to the car a pod of dolphins swam by. There were some wind surfers there that kept the dolphins from surfacing. But it is ok, because one of them crashed into some rocks and messed up his leg. God works in mysterious ways. Peace.
