I have added a slide show from my September trip to Bonaire to my web site. The file is rather large (8.2 Mb), so you will not want to try and download it without a high speed connection.

Go to http://farmach.home.att.net and right click on the link for Bonaire Slide Show.

If you can't download the slide show, all of the images are available for viewing in a gallery format, as well.

Enjoy.

Hey Cecil.

Thanks for the compliment.

I have no idea what that trumpetfish had on his mind. He just turned bright blue and swam straight for my lens. I don't know if he saw his reflection or what. Whether he was amorous or aggressive I can't decide, but as you can see he had "fire in his eyes!"

Thanks for the pics, Jeff. We are, of course, drooling over them and extremely jealous that we aren't there right now. Your photos are certainly the next best thing. We had almost forgotten the subtle beauty and the outlandish, overwhelming sights. So much to see!!! Martin is by far our most favorite instructor on the island and both Bruce and Linda are great. It was nice to read that someone else had a good experience with their operation. What type of camera did you use? We want to get one but need research/tips and (most of all) some education about underwater photography.

Marshall,
Not sure if Jeff is a regular reader...but in case he's not...here is some info he sent to me regarding the camera he used and articles he's written. I've read the articles and they are quite helpful. I know there is a big debate regarding film vs. digital cameras. I prefer digital because I find I've wasted a LOT of $$$ on very bad pictures over the years. With digital, especially high res. I can get good prints if I need them, delete the ones I don't want at no cost...an easily share them with friends via email, CDs, or slide shows on my computer. Good luck!

Here is what Jeff sent to me....

I have written quite a bit about the subject of digital underwater photography (and specifically starting). Here are some links to things I have written that may help you out.
This first one is a little dated. It talks about the Olympus C-3030 camera and PT-005 housing. Just about everything I mentioned there can be extended to my newer rig, which is the C-4040 with the PT-010 housing.

This next one offers step-by-step operating details for the C-4040 and the PT-010 without an external strobe.

This one goes over some of the options available for external strobes and details about the system I use.

Thanks, Scott. That is exactly what I would have cut and pasted in here.

Sorry for the tardy response. I watched the board closely for a few weeks after I posted this, but haven't checked for a few days.

Marshall, it is good to hear from another Carib Inn devotee. Bruce is an interesting case study and one of my idols. His success could be parlayed if he added more rooms and more boats. But, what effect would it have on his personal life, and when does getting bigger quit meaning getting better? It is a lesson I learned from Bruce, and have applied to my business with a very satisfactory result.
