Will be going to Bonaire latter part of Dec, and would like to know who has the best house reef for diving? Thanks, SGM

Checkout www.shorediving.com They list about 50 different shore diving locations on Bonaire, including many of the house reefs. You can read about each one and decide which would be best for you.

The most abundant fish life is on Bari Reef at Sand Dollar

Hmmm. I think Sorobon has the most diversity. Inside reef, outside wild side reef. Not sure about the accommodations though.

Divi. There are two docks, so one can create many different dives. There is a sailboat and anchor as well as a nice reef. Good place for night diving.

Jeeez, Captain Don's "Reef Scientifico" is known around the world as the most prolific reef for juveniles, hard and soft corals and for no less that 2 separate wrecks, one deep and one shallow. True they charge $5.00 for use of their facilites, but that, their staff (Yo Wilco, Sherman, Ernst, Karen, et all) and their amazing fleet of boats,is the reasons I dive with Capt Don's year after year.

Secret Agent,

I'm with JoAn.

How about we ask Tim, who started this query, if he has clicked on the excellent link that JoAn provided? After he has done some research and narrowed his scope of what he is looking for, perhaps then we can assist. He's got PLENTY of time.

The same EXCELLENT stretch of "house" reef is shared by some excellent resort choices, Sand $, Buddy Dive, Lion's and Capt Don (going south to north).

In light of some of the recent posts, I'd personally stick to places that offer on-site security as well. At least until such time as Bonaire gets a group that at least vaguely resembles a real functioning police force that actually arrests and severely punishes the extremely tiny minority of criminals that inhabit the tiny island and ruin it for everyone else. It would seem that for now anyway, Barney Fife would look like Elliot Ness out there.

Just a thunk from a Chicago boy that wants to go there again someday.

Just to make it very clear on Cap'n Don's as CK says if you use the facilties and/or dive off the dock it is $5,00. If you get make your entry in front of Villa Number 6 there is a small beach entry area and steps. There is no charge for entry from here.
