Hi everyone.
We are planning to come to Bonaire in the beginning of September and are trying to figure out how many days of unlimited shore diving we need.

Does anyone know how most dive shops treat the rental period? For example, does 1 day of rental starting at 9am mean that the end is 9am the next day, or is all the equipment due back by the time the dive shop closes on the same day?

If our checkout dive is 9am on 9/2, and we leave around 2 or 3pm on 9/11, I am having trouble figuring out if that would be 8 or 9 days of diving. Of course we are planning our last dive to be at least 24 hours before our flight leaves for safety reasons.

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Laurie

Laurie, I can only speak for the dive shop we use (Wannadive). We head to the dive shop first thing in the morning the day of our arrival to take care of the paperwork, purchase a marine park tag if it is our first visit of the year, do our checkout, gather weights and head out. That is considered day one of the unlimited air. At the end of our trip we go to see the wonderful Wannadive folks to settle our bill and return weights on our surface day. They calculate our last day of diving as the day before. It is all very easy -- never a question of finishing our last dives at shop closing time. My guess is that most shops operate in a fairly similar way -- I am sure other BT folks will jump in here as needed. Welcome and enjoy!
Susan

Sounds like nine days diving to me Laurie, and that is what I would expect to pay.
Do they insist you prepay for all your diving, or do you just have to make a reservation? I seldom find prepaying offers any savings.
