Hi everybody,
I'm single and looking for a company to make shore diving in Bonaire from March 17 to March 24. I'll stay in Hamlet Oasis (near the Captain Don). If anybody's making plans for exploring dive sites of Washington Park and does not mind reliable and experienced buddy – I would love to share the car rental for couple of days. Russian, 50, AOW+nitrox+freediving. Got hence of humor, I believe. No kidding.
Also will appreciate any advice about meals at that place. Do they have any grocery store in that Hamlet?
Mike

Mikhail, are you cute? Just checking. :-)

Wish I could join you. Check under "Everything Else Bonaire" for a list of who will be there the same time you will.

I'm not aware of a grocery store that far north, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Safe Diving,

Kelly

Mikhail, below is a link to a thread that has a list of folks on the island this month (scroll down to the bottom of the thread for the most recent sheet). You may also want to go to the Tuesday dinner at Gibi's, 6:30PM...a lot of Bonaire Talkers gather there on Tuesday's to dine and share stories, you will most likely meet some folks that you can hook up with.

March BTalkers on Island

P.S. I removed your duplicate post under "Everything else" as you have responses in this thread, no need for another duplicate post.

Have a great time!

Hi Mikhail, What a small world... I was the crew on the Jean Marie for the freediving trip to Montauk in the fall.Remember I warned you guys that if I had to save your butts by jumping in the water you all were toast?? You all did great that day with the fish!!!!!
Now down to business Yes there is a grocery within walking distance of the Hamlet. also in that little strip mall is Chat and Browse where you can get reasonable internet service or a chip for your phone.. Say Hi to Michael Gaynor for me. if you really want to be a hero bring him the Times and some Folgers Red Coffee..
Dining...Rum Runners at Capt. Don's is reasonable if you watch the prices.. There is also a good pizza concession there these are reasonable.. Next door South is Lion's Den and the food there is very good..Mango's is within walking distance as well and very good..say Hi to Ruth and ask if she has any Salitos... the reef in front of the Hamlet Capt. Don's. Lions Den and Buddies is Fantastic!!! Every dive you will see something different.... Say Hi to "Charlie" the resident Tarpon .. you will have a great time!! Email me if you need more info.. Freddie thanks for response! World is really small - I've had a lot of occasions to be convinced in that. I remember you all right.
Do they rent out cars right on the premises, in hotels? Or I have to go to their capital to do that? I'm just trying to realize how all this life look like over there. I'm not sure if I need the car for the whole stay, so is it possible to find it on the daily basis there?

Mikhail, it's prime season right now on Bonaire, so you may have a problem renting a vehicle by the day. You can rent through some hotels, and you can also rent right at the airport. (Maybe Marc will see this and have more concrete advice:-))

I would suggest that you would need a vehicle for the entire stay if you plan on doing a lot of shore diving. Plus, you will be about 3 miles from town. So unless you plan on diving right where you are staying daily and not diving anywhere else, you will need a vehicle.

Mikhail, the fastest way to learn about Bonaire is to read as much of this site as possible. Almost every question about Bonaire has been asked here and answered correctly by the people who love to dive here. Rethink your desire to dive Washington Park the waves from Lenny four years ago weren't kind. Shore diving is easy and I'm sure you'll meet many divers who'll welcome you along. Nice fish but leave the gun at home. Have a great time and let us know how things went. Do rent a vehicle before you get there the sites in the south are fantastic. Jerry

Hi Mike,

My wife and I are going to be on island at the same time you are. You are welcome to join us some if you like. I have a rental truck so I should have enough room. What airlines are you flying and which dive operator are you using?

Jerry, thanks for advising. I'm completely aware of the Park regulations, do not worry. And believe me, spearfishing is a sport, not just a killing. Have you ever seen a hunter in a Zoo? Though, people are different, I admit...
Regards and thanks to everybody who responded. I'm eager to check it out - what is there in that island that makes people to come back so many times. Mike
