I will be coming to Bonaire on March 24 for a week of diving. During my last visit I was able to transport my pony bottle with my checked luggage...now this year I am not allowed, at least according to the TSA.

My question is are there any dive operators that rent pony bottles?

Does this apply to Spare Air? I had no trouble with that last year.

I just talked to Submersible Systems. As long as you remove the regulator, you can travel with the Spare Air. I'll give it a try tonight. 11 hours and counting.

Does removing the 'regulator' open up the tank for visual internal inspection?? That seems to be the criterion from an earlier thread on BT.

I believe that the TBS wants you to remove the VALVE and present an empty tank..However I could be mistaken..

It may be wrong Freddie, but it's more appropriate.

We see divers bringing they'r own pony botles all the time. Just spinn the valve loose so one can inspect the inside if nessesary.

Your dive operator will be happy to put the valve back on.

Roger manages the Bonaire Dive & Adventure dive and adventure shop incidentally (you probably should add that info on your posts, Roger so that your "we" makes sense :-) ).
