My husband and I are planning a trip in July. What are conditions like at that time. Temps, winds, etc. Any comments? What is the visibility? Is there an optimum time of the year for diving in Bonaire? Thanks!!!

Optimum time to dive in Bonaire......daytime
Unless you want to do night dives. I'm sure that smarter people than I will respond to this, I can only offer that our last trip was end of March into April and conditions were excellent (we didn't even have much wind)

Welcome to the board Jeanne.
I agree with Joe, there is no "bad" time to go to Bonaire. We usually are down in June or July because one our group is a school teacher and has that time of the year off. The air temp is in the mid 90s with a constant breeze and a water temp in the mid 80s. Vis varies due to wind and waves but is usually at least 50-80 ft. It's not long until I will start planning this years trip......how many days is it to July anyway??

Jeanne, I agree...anytime is good on Bonaire. Last July, vis on my checkout dive was about 150 feet...there was some residual due to a hurricane near San Juan, and vis dropped to about 50 feet by the last day, but that is still better than we get locally! It's 90, but HOT! And humid as well. Water was about 84F:-)

we were there this past summer from the beginning of july to mid-august. vis was good almost every day, water temps in the low 80's, air temps in the upper 80's to low 90's. it was windy the first week of july, dropped to normal breeze by the end of july, and then the wind died almost totally by mid-august.
