I have heard they have been seeing Manta Rays in Bonaire recently. Are there any particluar dive sites or locations that they are being seen ? Thanks in advance.

Brian

Mantas are seen around Bonaire, but not with any real frequency, or any regularity in terms of location (other than in the water, of course :-) ). They are quite rare here.

One was seen off La Machaca (Habitat) this September - we missed it by two minutes.

Karpata September 2002 - we missed it we were at Bloodlet.

Karpata September 2001 - we missed it as we were on the other boat.

We did finally dive with mantas this year but it was in the indian ocean

Maybe we will see them in Bonaire September 2004

We saw a manta at the airport dive site in about 30 ft of water right by the new oil terminal last March 2003. We will be back Feb 2004- Can't wait!

For Manta's you either have to be at Klein Bonaire, or the East Coast.

We saw a big one going over our heads while we doing the Lac Cai reef in March.

We saw one at Buddys in Jan 2002 (I think)...but it was while we were eating breakfast at the restaurant overlooking the water. A few people grabbed their cameras and jumped in. Later saw the pictures and they came out pretty good!
Steve.

Mantas have been seen in several locations in the last couple weeks including the Andreas and in Belnem. I suspect it might be the same manta taking a tour.
