I left BON Sept. 1 and on the 28th I was windsurfing near Kai and hit some coral. My feet suffered some cuts and can you believe, they have not healed? WOW..I have never had a coral cut before..is this typical?

Cuts from hard coral can be pretty nasty, and can take a very long time to heal - reason being that coral tissues (e.g. the slimy stuff coating a coral) can infect the cut, among all sorts of other things. I would recommend consulting a doctor - you may need a "compound scrub" of the wound, antibiotics, etc. - you may want to see if you can find a specialist in your area who understands corals, or have your regular practioner check with DAN - Divers Alert Network - for details (I have this book here that I bought through DAN called "Venemous and Poisonous Marine Animals", and hard corals and treatments from cuts therefrom are covered on pages 182-183 - the examples given are pretty extreme, but still, better safe than sorry.

Jake is right--long healing. Take good care of the ones you have. ;–)

Annie, I have a friend who got a coral cut on her foot at the Keys...and she ended up on major antibiotics, crutches, and pain killers for 3 weeks...it was not a pretty picture. Good luck and I hope you get all fixed before the 6th!
